It's really hard to find proper looking and working 3.5" floppy drives these days.
I only use models with a mint black front panel, but that's becoming quite a challenge.

I have dozens of good drives with only a scratched or white / grey front bezel.
So I started on redesigning front bezels, and have them printed professionally (SLA resin).
I'm perfectioning the design with some first prints that arrived, and they really look great!
Just need to do a couple of small changes, and then should have plenty more drives.


There is a slight chance that this may take more time than I estimate,
so maybe I can only ship these drive sets out from February.
Please keep that in mind when ordering!

This is an upgrade kit for an Opus Discovery floppy disk system, which is an add-on made in 1985 for the ZX Spectrum (read more about the Opus Discovery here).
This offer is NOT for a complete Opus Discovery.

This upgrade kit consists of:

• 6116
• v2.31 ROM
• 2x PC floppy drives
• Set of screws
• Second floppycable
• Assembly manual – read it online here
• 800KB formatting and copy utilities on DD disk

When you want to use another drive than the default SSSD (Single Sided Single Density) drive, you will need the 6116 RAM chip.
This is where the Opus Discovery system stores the drive and floppy format parameters.

When you want to use a ZX Spectrum 128K or ZX Spectrum +2, you need ROM version 2.22 or higher.
This QuickDOS ROM also speeds up reading and writing!
Please note the upgrade needs drilling and some assembly skills!
